Japanese printmaker Yuriko MIYOSHI introduce a printing technique of Moku-hanga used for Ukiyo-e prints, how to print the beautiful classic motifs such as cherry blossoms, Mount Fuji etc.on Japanese paper Washi, using water-based inks, non-toxic tapioca starch paste, horsehair brushes and the BAREN hand printing tools.

ORIZOME is a Japanese method of folding and dyeing Washi to create beautiful colours and patterns. Yuriko simply demonstrates the process and trick of how to dye folded washi paper, dry it, and then use it to make cards with Yamato-Nori (non-toxic tapioca starch paste).

Anyone can experience three steps as E-shi (the artist/painter), Hori-shi (the woodcarver) and Suri-shi (the printer) using Usagi-e or Hokusai design. Take both your Moku-hanga plate and prints on Washi (Japanese paper) to home.
She will also briefly explain how to make a colour print.
(NL) Een populaire workshop van de Japanse grafica Yuriko Miyoshi om de Moku-hanga techniek te introduceren, ook wel bekend als Ukiyo-e print. Iedereen kan met behulp van Usagi-e of Hokusai ontwerp drie stappen ervaren als E-shi (de kunstenaar/schilder), Hori-shi (de houtsnijder) en Suri-shi (de drukker). Neem zowel je Moku-hanga plaat als je prenten op Washi (japanspapier) mee naar huis.
Ook zal ze je hoe je een kleurenprent maakt kort uitleggen.

With the cut plates, papers and watercolour paint, you can print your special message cards with Baren, a Japanese hand tool.

She has a Japanese Master of Fine Art Degree in Tokyo. Prints from her LAND series are based on maps from Japan, the Netherlands and others. Combined with her memories and historical materials Yuriko create a new story in her etching and woodcut techniques. Have fun looking for places you know!Zij heeft een Japans diploma van doctorandus in de kunst (MA). Prenten van haar ‘LAND’ serie zijn gebaseerd op kaarten van Japan en Nederland enz.
